This training manual is intended for use as part of an instructor-led course in accordance with the California Business and Professions Code. This manual may be used exclusively by BSIS-licensed security guard trainers in approved and licensed training facilities or by licensed private or proprietary security guard agencies or business providers.

This manual includes the mandatory firearms student training material as required by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) for a professional security to earn a "Permit for Exposed Firearm" to carry an exposed firearm while on duty. All aspects of student information are included for the mandatory 14-hour course (8 hours classroom, 6 hours range) in the carrying and use of firearms given by a firearms training instructor certified by the Department of Consumer Affairs.
