These training manuals are intended for use as part of an instructor-led course in accordance with the California Business and Professions Code. These manuals may be used exclusively by BSIS licensed security officer trainers in approved and licensed training facilities or by licensed private or proprietary security officer agencies or business providers.

This training manual is intended for use as part of an instructor-led course in accordance with Division 7 of Title 16 of the California Code of Regulations, Article 9, Skill Training Course for Security Guards §643. Skills Training Course for Security Guards and follows the standards prescribed by §7583.6(b) of the Business and Professions Code.

This manual may be used exclusively by Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) licensed security officer trainers in approved and licensed training facilities or by licensed private or proprietary security officer agencies or business providers.

2017 Continuing Education, 8-hours, Unarmed Skills Training Course for Security Guards: California

104 pages. Updated for 2017. Provides additional or remedial instruction in private security subject matters. This manual meets the continuing education requirement of an additional 8 hours annually pursuant to California Business and Professions Code Section 7583.6(f)(1).

Firearms Training Manual & Baton Training Manual Student Text: California

152 pages. This manual includes the mandatory firearms student training material as required by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) for a professional security to earn a "Permit for Exposed Firearm" to carry an exposed firearm while on duty. All aspects of student information are included for the mandatory 14-hour course (8 hours classroom, 6 hours range) in the carrying and use of firearms given by a firearms training instructor certified by the Department of Consumer Affairs.

This manual also includes the mandatory baton student training material as required by the California Department of Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) for a professional security to earn a §Baton Permit" to carry an exposed baton while on duty. All aspects of student information are included for the mandatory 8-hour course in the carrying and use of a baton given by a baton training instructor certified by the Department of Consumer Affairs.

The baton training course is designed to give students the minimum level of proficiency to carry and use a baton while on duty as private security guards. Individuals required to obtain a baton permit must be taught in the format described in §7585.9(a) of the Business and Professions Code. This Baton Student Training Manual provides that format.
